This week we have been very busy with British Science week, International Maths Day AND Comic Relief! That's all in addition to our usual learning taking place!
The theme for British Science week was journeys and we spend some time looking at the journey water takes as it changes state of matter from liquid into gas and then back into a liquid or solid by studying ... CLOUDS! We had a great time predicting the weather and finding out about the different cloud types before creating our own storyboards telling the journey of a cloud.
We have also been trying to 'grow our own cloud' in the classroom and observing what happens when water begins to evaporate in a clear plastic beaker ... whose cress will grow first?
Comic Relief Day was spent incorporating the message of charity and our school values through the stories of children who are refugees and looking at the work Comic Relief does to help support some of the most vulnerable in our world today. The children showed great empathy and compassion when we learnt about a young boy's journey to safety from war torn Afghanistan, and were able to share their feelings with each other to discuss how brave they thought he was.
Obviously we were also keen to join in the comic side of the day and made ourselves some funny red noses, as well as writing some (not so) funny jokes! Hahaha!
