Better Together

Monday 15th - Friday 19th June

Dear Kingfisher Parents and Carers,

As of June 15th 2020, the way we set work for children at home is going to change. Instead  of posting daily lessons, we will post ALL of the work for the week before 9am every Monday.

The children will still be expected to do some English, maths and topic work, but the approach from now on will be more topic based, with children across the whole Federation doing the same project work. The projects have been, and will continue to be, created by our teachers who are currently having to work at home. Teachers in school will also be following these plans with their bubble groups so that opportunities for learning are roughly equitable for all.

At the bottom of the page, you will see that there is a daily maths lesson for you to complete (choose either the Y5/6 document or the Y3/4 document). Once the document is open, press CTRL and click on the picture for each lesson, and it will take you to the youtube video for that lesson. You need to participate in this lesson, by watching the video, following the instructions and answering questions. Sometimes, you may be asked to complete a few questions before the next lesson. These can be done in your exercise book (or on paper if you have run out of room) but you may need to have them ready for the following lesson.

There is also a spelling rule each week for you to practice (see NVF Week 1 spelling lessons word document below).  You will need to click on the blue link to access the website and follow the instructions in the spelling document below. You are expected to play one of the games each day, and complete the spelling test on Friday.

This week's project is about nocturnal animals (see the NVF Nocturnal Animal Project word document below). You will be asked to research a nocturnal animal of your choice and produce an information leaflet about that animal. There are also a couple of suggestions of science and art activities that you might like to try. The document below contains some more information, with suggested books, web site links and examples to help you get started. I can't wait to see some of your finished leaflets!

Finally, a quick reminder that I will continue to be available on Class Dojo to communicate with children and parents at home. However, please note that I may not be able to reply quickly as I'm now in school every day teaching my assigned group. If you need to speak with me urgently, phone the school office and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
