Spellings: 

Rule 21: Adding suffixes beginning with a vowel to polysyllabic words

Use the powerpoint to explore rules when adding suffixes beginning with a vowel (Polysyllabic means words with many syllables). You will need to think carefully about how we say each word.

Read for pleasure: Spend 10-15 minutes (or more if you want) reading something for pleasure. It could be a story, poem, play, information text, comic, graphic novel or online text/kindle/e-reader. You could also read to a younger or older sibling.

Guidance: work through the relevant powerpoint below with the children (Note: there is a separate powerpoint for year 5 and year 6. They can record responses to the questions in their exercise books as they go.

Year 5: Y5 R5d. Comments upon language choices/structures of different authors (particularly in poetry)

 This one is quite tricky, so take your time.

Year 6: R5d: Can prove or disprove a statement about a character or setting by finding evidence in the text

Science: Evidence for Evolution-Humans

Go through the powerpoint to learn about how scientists developed their theory of how humans have evolved.

Use the activity sheets below to compare Australopitheus Afarensis, Homo Neanderthalensis with a modern day human, working scientifically as Charles Darwin did. Use you observation skills to look for similarities and differences, and record your observations in your exercise books
