Please follow this link here to join us with our collective worship. We will be updating this link daily to provide you and your children with time to reflect together. This week we will be focussing on the story of Easter.
Join us by singing our 'school song' This little light of mine.
Why not try some body percussion to accompany your singing? Click here to take yourself to a great YouTube page with daily tutorials taking place to help you master this skill!
In class we have been exploring how religious belief affects our lifestyles: Pilgrimage. We have considered the meaning of the word journey, and how we can all have different experiences of the same journey. At the bottom of the page you will see a pdf to support a religious studies lesson looking at Jesus' journey, linking directly to Easter.
We will be using White Rose maths to support our children's home learning. This is something they will be familiar with and hopefully enable them to be more independent in what they are doing. Please follow the link where you will find the resources needed, including a short video, and some explanatory notes.. Each day a new set of materials are published, including answers, so your child can use the pink pens to check their answers and then the green pens to edit and correct any mistakes. If you click on the website page links you will be taken directly to the work.
Obviously I am here to help with these where necessary, please just ask.
As part of our Maths learning we complete the Daily 10, something I know many of you do at home too! This week our focus will continue to be multiplication and division facts. Our Badgers are pretty super at knowing these ... so I look forward to hearing all about your achievements!
Daily 10: Please click here to go direct to the Daily 10!
Year 3: Please click here to go direct to WEEK 2 White Rose maths learning for Year 3, continuing to focus on fractions.
Year 4: Please click here to go direct to WEEK 2 White Rose maths learning for Year 4, continuing to focus on hundredths and division.
In class we have been studying James and the giant peach with the expectation that the children would be able to write their own 'missing chapter' from the book. We will continue with this, by using the knowledge we have about the mini-beasts James was sharing his adventure with. Throughout the week we will continue to think about stories we have enjoyed reading and why we enjoyed them. Tuesday's English learning is for you to write your first edit of your chapter - you will need to think about the title for your chapter, are you able to include any alliteration? Remember to include our SPaG basic ingredients we have practised in clas together: Capital letters, punctuation (.,?!), inverted commas when including speech "As if I would forget that?" exclaimed Super Badger, fronted adverbs and prepositions.
On Wednesday we will edit and complete the final piece, including illustrations to accompany the adventure, just like Quentin Blake does for the words of Roald Dahl. At the bottom of the page you will find the decorated paper for our children to write their 'hot write' chapter onto - This is a two page pdf, page 1 is portrait, page 2 is landscape - please be aware if printing to select either page 1 or 2! There is also a self-assessment checklist for the children to complete once their writing is complete, this does not need to be completed immediately after they have written their chapter, I would perhaps leave this as an activity for another day - fresh eyes are always helpful when working on an extended piece of writing. I look forward to reading these!
This week we will be sharing a fiction narrative extract as our reading activity, so I would like you to complete our usual Monday task of identifying the sounds in the chosen vocabulary attached below, and find some alternative words. I will continue to update our dojo page with tips, advice and extension activities to support this. Don't forget that this extract is what you will use throughout the week for your daily reading activity as we would do in class together.
Spellings: Follow the instructions on the powerpoint below with your child to explore the spelling rules for the suffix '-ly'. This is intended to be used throughout the week and so where possible ask your child to include these words in their everyday language so they become more familiar with their use.
Tuesday Topic Task:
Continuing with our investigation into the impact the Romans had upon the people of Britain, watch this clip and then read and respond to the questions set looking at 'Living life a Roman'.
Firstly, read the information text and then answer the questions on the task sheet. You will be given a Dojo afternoon activity using the information from this task ... are you ready to practise your archaeology skills?
