Welcome to wonderful Wednesday!
Spellings: Rule 23:cial or tial?
Using the same video from yesterday to remind yourself of the spelling rule, practise the remaining words from the lists. Can you explain how the rule works to someone in your family?
From the book you have been reading this week on the Oxford Owl, create your own 3 questions that you could ask a classmate to answer about the text. Make them as tricky as you can!
Today is letter writing day! Using your plan from yesterday and your questions from Monday, you will be writing your own letter to ask questions about your dream job. Remember, some of these will be answered by real people in that job! Remember the correct layout and make sure you show off your best presentation skills. I look forward to seeing these on Class Dojo.
Encourage pupils to practise their times tables by clicking on the link below. This will give 10 questions based around recall of the times tables facts.
- Click on the daily 10 image.
- At the top of the page, you should see 3 ‘choose’ tabs
- 1st tab: Choose level 4 (year 4) or level 5 (year 5)
- 2nd tab: Multiplication, Choose mixed tables up to x12
- Then you should see a range of question intervals at the bottom of the page…can you try a quicker challenge?
- Upload your score to dojo to let your teacher know how you got on.
You could also try selecting division to practice using your knowledge of times tables to solve related division questions.
White Rose Maths
Note: this week there are separate lessons for year 4 and year 5 children.
Year 4: Equivalent Fractions 2
Click on the link below to watch the video tutorial about equivalent fractions. Use fraction walls to find equivalent fractions, then learn how to find equivalent fractions by multiplying or dividing the numerators and denominator.
Then, complete the worksheet below (Y4 Maths Wednesday). You could print it off and write on the worksheet, or write the answers on paper/exercise book, but remember to number your answers clearly so your parents can check you are correct.
Parents: I have also uploaded the answer sheet (Y4 MATHS ANSWERS) for you to refer to.
Year 5: Compare and order fractions less than 1
Click on the link below to watch the video tutorial to learn about comparing and ordering fractions less than one. Learn how to use equivalent fractions to compare fractions with different denominators and discover rules to make comparisons between fractions quickly.
Then, complete questions 1-4 on the worksheet below (Y5 Maths Wednesday). You could print it off and write on the worksheet, or write the answers on paper/exercise book, but remember to number your answers clearly so your parents can check you are correct.
Note: you only need to complete questions 1-4, not the whole worksheet.
Parents: I have also uploaded the answer sheet (Y5 MATHS ANSWERS) for you to refer to.
