Y1 - Today we are going to learn about the suffixes 'er' and 'est. Watch the powerpoint then have a try at writing the words with the suffixes in the worksheet attached.
Y2 - Today we are going to go over some of the rules we have learnt for adding suffixes to root words. This means adding letters onto the end of the word (this can change the meaning of the word) e.g. 'play' is a root word, 'played' has the suffix 'ed' added to it which changes the meaning of the word to the past tense. Download and watch the powerpoint to help you remember the rules then join in with trying to spell the words correctly.
Y1 - Think of some speech / thought bubbles to add to the illustrations. What are the animals saying / thinking? Draw a picture and write a speech / thought bubble in your book.
Y2 - Imagine that the title of the book was ‘The Ugly Six’. Create a new page with a detailed illustration of your sixth animal. Can you include some adjectives and some interesting facts about your animal? You might even want to include some rhyme.
Don’t rush, you can spread this task over a couple of days.
For any children that struggle with their number bonds to 10 or 20 listen to the Super movers song. This is a great way of helping them learn actively and it also shows them how subtraction is linked to number bonds. Here is the link - Supermovers Number Bonds
If your child knows their number bonds they can spend 5 minutes playing a different game on Mental Maths Train
