YEARS 2 & 3, KEY STAGE 1 & 2
Welcome to our class page for the academic year 2018-2019. Please see the below links for up to date newsletters, spelling lists and homework for each half of term!
A bit about us! We are a mixed age class of Year 2/3. We have two teachers during the week. Mrs Wallbank is in class Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, while on Thursday and Friday we have Mrs Stuart.
Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Bridgeman. She is in class Monday-Friday.
In Whitebeam class we strive to achieve our best and support each other so that we can reach our full potential. We have a relaxed and happy classroom atmosphere where we adhere to our Christian values, our class rules and our school motto. We have a nurturing environment where we can learn, have fun and reflect on our positive behaviours for learning.
Our Daily Routine:
Each day there will be a dedicated session to Maths, English, Phonics and Guided and Individual reading. We cover different curriculum subjects in our Topic lessons. Our topics this year will include:
Autumn 1: The Great Fire of London
Autumn 2: Remembrance
Spring 1: The Arctic
Spring 2: Kings and Queens
Summer 1: Into the Forest (routes, maps and trails)
Summer 2: Weather and Seasonal Changes
In class, we know that good behaviour leads to an excellent classroom ethos where listening is learning! We put our hands up to ask and answer questions and listen well to each other making sure to take turns when speaking. Our structured PATHs programme is a great asset to our fantastic classroom atmosphere and we have dedicated sessions to this each week.
Parents and carers are always welcome to visit our classroom and keep up to date with what the children are learning. Keep your eyes peeled for open classroom days, as well as school trips throughout the year.
You can help your child at home by:
- Hearing them read each day
- Encouraging them to complete their homework and spellings
-Practising times tables through chanting
- Ensuring they have the correct kit for school time; PE for the year will be every Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make sure that ALL PE kit and school uniform is named.
- Offering any help or knowledge with topic related work or projects
Parent helpers are always appreciated to hear the children read during the week so please do ask the class teachers for any details on how to get involved.
Happy Learning for the year!
All in Whitebeam Class.
